Question: How do I upgrade from QuickBooks Pro to Premier?
Answer: QuickBooks makes it easy to upgrade from Pro to Premier.
First, download Premier; then back up your QuickBooks company file. Print out your balance sheet and income statement on the accrual basis.
When you are ready to upgrade, go to “File,” “Open” or “Restore Company.” Select either “Open Company File” if you are opening a .qbw file, or “Restore Backup” if you are opening a .qbb file.
Premier will then open your company file and guide you through the steps to activate the new and more robust features of Premier.
Lastly, run the balance sheet and income statement again with the same date and accrual basis as before to make sure that all the data transferred properly.
As with most QuickBooks software, once you upgrade to a higher level software, returning to the lower level software is difficult.
