Eskimo Joe Inducted into Hanes Beefy-T Hall of Fame

Hanesbrands Imagewear, Winston-Salem, N.C., announced Eskimo Joe’s, the popular bar and restaurant located in Stillwater, Okla., has been inducted into the Hanes Beefy-T T-shirt Hall of Fame. Eskimo Joe’s co-founder Stan Clark was presented with the inaugural Hanes Beefy-T Hall of Fame Award during Eskimo Joe’s 35th anniversary party on July 24.

The Hanes Beefy-T T-shirt Hall of Fame, located at the Hanesbrands Imagewear corporate headquarters in Winston-Salem, N.C., recognizes screen printers, distributors and others within the decorated apparel industry. “The Hanes Beefy-T has been an iconic brand in the decorated apparel industry for 35 years, and what better way to celebrate this special anniversary than to recognize others within this industry who have been part of our success,” said John Marsh, senior vice president/general manager of Hanesbrands Imagewear.

Hanes recently celebrated the 35th anniversary of the Hanes Beefy-T T-shirt; perfect timing since Eskimo Joe’s also is celebrating its 35th anniversary. Marion Plumb, vice president of sales for Hanesbrands Imagewear, presented the inaugural Hanes Beefy-T Hall of Fame Award to Clark in a ceremony in Stillwater, Fla. on Saturday. “Eskimo Joe’s and Hanes Beefy-T have literally grown up together, and what a great partnership it has been,” said Plumb. “Today, Eskimo Joe’s is known worldwide for its cool and creative promotional apparel, including the highly sought-after Eskimo Joe’s T-shirt which, of course, is printed on a Hanes Beefy-T T-shirt.”

Clark, who estimates that during the past 20 years, Eskimo Joe’s has sold more than 500,000 Hanes Beefy-T T-shirts per year, agrees the partnership is special. “Hanes shares our same values of courtesy, integrity and responsibility,” said Clark. “For example, when a new color for our Eskimo Joe’s T-shirts suddenly started flying off the shelves, the customer service team at Hanes was on the case immediately locating every piece out there to help us meet demand.”

The Tulsa World once recognized Eskimo Joe’s as having one of the world’s most collectible tees, ranking it alongside Hard Rock Cafes in London and New York City. Eskimo Joe’s T-shirts have been spotted around the globe from the Red Square in Moscow to the Great Wall of China, and from the North Pole to the Sydney Opera House. Visitors to Eskimo Joe’s have included first ladies, actors, singers and other celebrities.

In addition to Eskimo Joe’s, Hanes plans to induct two other companies later this fall with a formal Hanes Beefy-T Hall of Fame recognition event for all inductees during the ISS Trade Show at Long Beach in January 2011.
