Hirsch Gift Inc., Houston, last week announced a recall of its CloudCharge Qi Wireless Charging Pads because the item could overheat while in use, creating a potential burn hazard.
Customers were urged to immediately stop using the chargers and contact Hirsch Gift Inc. for a free replacement. The recall involved about 21,000 items.
Today, Hirsch Gift Inc. owner Peter Hirsch gave a statement regarding the voluntary recall. News of the recall came about two days ago, but Hirsch disclosed that the company actually initiated the recall weeks ago after receiving reports of the items overheating.
“About a month ago, we initiated a voluntary recall by contacting all distributors that ordered the specific version of the CloudCharge Wireless Charging Pad,” Hirsch wrote in a statement. “This recall was as a result of seven incidents of overheating reported out of 21,000 units sold between February and May of this year. So far, the recall has been a success due to our team alerting affected distributors prior to the official recall being announced.”
