We’ve all left the house with our shirts on inside out at some point or another. But how many of us can say the same about our jeans? Soon, it may be a lot of us, because inside out jeans are trending and, somehow, they’re going for $348.
The Independent wrote this week that fashion brand Unravel Project released its “Inside-Out Effect” jeans. We’ve seen some unusual fashion trends, but this is up there with the strangest. From far away, the jeans may look like normal ones in a light-washed shade, until you come face to face with the reality that, yes, there is something bizarre about them. The Independent noted that, “To make matters worse, there’s also the addition of a strange mesh-like material, similar to a pair of tights, hanging from the back pocket.” Yeah, we’re still trying to figure out what you’d even do with that back part.

Denim trends are constantly changing. We’ve been through many phases—the ripped, the slouchy-fit, the faux paint-splatter, the pre-muddied jeans Nordstrom released in 2017 and, now, inside out jeans. We’ll give it to the creator of Unravel Project, Ben Taverniti. At least his idea was original.
Unravel Project created a few different styles of the jeans for those not into the mesh detailing. It also introduced a unique pair of cutoff shorts, available on the Farfetch website.
If you weren’t too distracted by the peculiar mesh-like material hanging from the front and back, you may have noticed the phrase, “To create something new, you must first destroy,” written on the pockets. Taverniti uses this quote on numerous apparel items, making it part of the Unravel Project’s signature look. Clearly, the brand is doing whatever it can to stand out in an industry that can lack originality.
Could a look this radical ever make it into the promotional product industry? Inside out shirts, maybe? We’ll leave that up to you to decide.
