Since their 1983 debut release “Kill ’Em All,” Metallica have engaged in an all-out welcomed attack on eardrums, rocking out before fans all across the globe—including those at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia last week—and scoring six chart-topping studio albums. Their last disc not to reach the number one spot, 1988’s “…And Justice for All,” might just be their masterpiece (let the debate begin!), and despite its inability to head the Billboard 200 albums chart, it has gained iconic status. Its most famous track is certainly “One,” and it is that number that has proven a fitting choice as the band prepares to release a remastered version of the gem, with one fortunate fan who dons a Metallica T-shirt destined to receive a deluxe box set.

The heavy metal icons took to Facebook and Twitter yesterday to announce the promotion that will come in conjunction with Friday’s impending anniversary edition of “…And Justice for All.” Having initially hit the masses on Aug. 25, 1988, the now-30-year-old album certainly holds up as a paragon of the rockers’ no-holds-barred approach to music. One could even argue that the nine-track album truly made Metallica enamored among heavy metal fans, since it kicked off the band’s streak of chart-toppers.
Because the band has been rocking in some form since 1981, there should be no doubt that there are some killer T-shirts out there that supporters have donned to declare their allegiance. Come Friday, devotees will look to prove that “nothing else matters” more than having their fellow fans notice their garb, with the group asking followers to tag their photos with #MetallicaTShirtDay. Many prizes will be up for grabs as the Grammy winners mark the anniversary of the standout album, but only one enthusiast will be the “hero of the day” and the recipient of the box set.
Since we have run out of puns on Metallica song titles, we are going to count down the hours until Casual Friday takes on a whole different meaning for the band’s biggest backers, because we know they are “hardwired” to stand out. Ah, it looks as if we had one more pun left in us after all.
