We were upset to learn that fashion brand Delia’s filed for bankruptcy and liquidated its assets back in 2014. After all, the chain store was as influential to ’90s history as Tamagotchis and NBA Jam. So when we heard the news that Delia’s was staging an epic comeback, we couldn’t help but get excited for what it says about fashion and, more importantly, promo fashion trends.
According to Chain Store Age, fashion brand Dolls Kill is reviving the ’90s relic, and launching a limited edition collection called Delia’s by Dolls Kill. The collection will be sold through the Doll’s Kill website, as well as two retail stores in San Francisco and Los Angeles.
The 70-piece collection will feature clothing, shoes and beauty products. Some products are even inspired from actual pages of the vintage Delia’s catalogs. The prices will range from $18 to $88. The ’90s throwback pieces will include everything from flower-embellished jeans, platform shoes and, of course, “mood-changing” nail polish. And did we mention there’s even an *NSYNC button set? (Can we place our orders now?)
“We’ve always been inspired by Delia’s vintage, original style, and it felt like the right time to introduce it to a whole new generation,” said Shaudi Lynn, Dolls Kill co-founder according to Chain Store Age.
Dolls Kill expects the limited inventory will sell out quickly, and the brand knows what it’s talking about when it comes to ’90s throwback collections. According to LA Magazine, the company recently teamed up with Lazy Oaf to sell a line of “Daria”-inspired clothing.
So how does this translate to promo fashion trends? We already knew subtle ’90s fashions were back in style, but Delia’s is far from subtle. With platform shoes slated to make a comeback, there’s no telling where these ’90s trends will go next. We do know that floral embroidery is huge in fashion right now, which means embroidery, in general, is very in demand. In addition, the rainbow color scheme is garnering a ton of attention in the fashion world, as well as neon hues and bold reds and yellows. And finally, the halter top is making its rounds in streetwear, and we think the retro silhouette would make a cool promotional option.
We’re not saying you have to go all in on crop tops, but adding some ’90s-inspired embellishments might take your promotional apparel campaigns to the next level.
