Southern Plus, Hartwell, Ga., announced that it has acquired the Aqua Sheen brand and its assets for an undisclosed amount, and will sell Aqua Sheen’s rainwear products as an extension of Southern Plus’s current product offering.
“We’re excited to continue the legacy of the Aqua Sheen brand and to be able to offer customers rain ponchos with the same customer service and sales support that Southern Plus is known for,” Grethe Adams, president and CEO of Southern Plus, said in a statement. “This is a natural extension of our existing line of outdoor leisure products, and we believe that with innovative web technology [and] online sales tools, and top-rated customer service, we will be in a great position to grow this category.
“Aqua Sheen has been in my family for 70 years, and I have been fortunate to run the company for the last 30 years,” Tracy Zobel, president of Aqua Sheen, said. “It was a very difficult decision to let go, but I know that our customers wil be in excellent hands with Grethe and the Southern Plus team.”
Going forward, Aqua Sheen’s website and existing toll-free number will remain in place, but all email and phone calls will be handled by Southern Plus’s customer service team.
All orders of Aqua Sheen products will be processed and shipped from Southern Plus’s Hartwell facility, as all inventory has already been relocated there.
