Buckle up, folks, because we’ve got a truck T-shirt controversy!!! We’ve seen our share of T-shirt artwork mistakes in the past, like the time Walmart printed the wrong state on its University of Maryland tees, or when Nike spelled Arkansas wrong on a football jersey. Now, Kohl’s has committed its own artwork error that is, frankly, pretty amusing.
According to Jalopnik, the mega retailer is selling a Juniors American Pie Short Sleeve Crew Neck Americana Tee that features Don McLean’s famed lyrics, “Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was dry, printed on it. Alongside the text is a picture of a vintage truck.

Sounds like a cute throwback tee that everyone will love, right? Wrong! Unfortunately, Jalopnik took a closer look at the truck image and determined that it is a ’70s Ford F-150 face on the body of a mid-60s Chevrolet.
Now, if you’re like us, you might be wondering what the harm is in a cross-automobile hybrid, but Jalopnik pointed out that there’s a major rivalry between Ford and Chevy, and those on either side of the feud are sure to find this Kohl’s faux-pas offensive. Jalopnik even went one step further and created its own cross between the Star Trek and Star Wars universe, which would be sure to incite a brawl between any die-hard fans of either franchise. So, we understand the frustration.
There’s no telling if this mistake will be enough for Kohl’s to pull the shirts, and it doesn’t seem like anyone is actually all that mad about it. (It’s a mix-up only hardcore truck nerds would catch, after all.) But it’s definitely another lesson in the importance of triple-checking designs before printing them.
