Our Favorite Designs From Uniqlo’s Mega-Popular Pokemon T-shirt Fan Design Contest

We don’t have to tell you that anything the Pokemon brand touches turns to success, except for that Pokemon Go failed event. But, other than that, it’s been pretty smooth sailing, and Uniqlo is the latest retailer to cash in on the enduring phenomenon.

The clothing chain recently released its latest Pokemon T-shirt collection, which features designs submitted by fans as part of a contest. Rather than just focusing on the star of the Pokemon universe (aka Pikachu), the winning designs spotlighted some other fan favorites, too, including Gengar, Cubone, Ditto, Magikarp and Eevee. According to comicbook.com, the shirts sold out in a matter of days.

Naturally, we had to see what the fuss was all about, so we perused the collection and picked our favorites.

Keep reading for the five that made us want to be the very best Pokemon trainers.

It’s like a patchwork quilt, but with hidden Pokemon references. We love the slick Ditto detailing, and the classic white trim on the neck-line for some contrast.

2. Short-Sleeve Graphic Tee

There’s a lot about this tee that put it at the top of the trend report. It’s a dust rose hue, which is having a major moment. And, it’s a vintage-inspired graphic, which is another home run. (Or maybe knockout, in this case.)

The classic white T-shirt will always be a crowd-pleaser, and the subtle graphics on this shirt manage to combine Pokemon with a summer staple look.

4. Women’s Short-Sleeve Graphic Tee

This is another classic white tee look, but with an obvious Pikachu at center stage. What really stands out to us with this option is the intersection of the anime universe with the ice cream universe (a win in our book). There’s the nostalgia of those iconic bubblegum ice cream pops, and the cuteness of Pikachu’s little face.

Lilac is another major color trend right now, and this under-the-radar Ditto reference is another must-have tee. Also, we really dig the font choice for the text—it’s bold, but not overpowering of the graphic below.
