As a new school year dawns in earnest, spelling and geography are going to be huge topics for learners. They should be equally important matters for folks in the promotional products world, too, as a concert T-shirt from KISS joins a storied list of mix-ups that includes Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan and New Mexico. The item in question this time? A shirt that should have read “Cincinnati,” but instead said “Cincinnatti” (with an extra “t”).

KISS hit the Queen City on August 29 for a stop on their End of the Road Tour and offered the shirts for $50, a price that one could consider steep enough for a concert T-shirt with correct spelling. For some reason, we highly doubt, no matter the ages of the band members, including 70-year-old frontman Gene Simmons, that this will be the last time that KISS head out to split eardrums, and since they hawked a product with a common mistake, we actually are going to advocate that they venture out again beyond 2019, if only to present Cincinnati occupants with a proper concert T-shirt.
Cincinnati is obviously a very well-known destination and not a member of this interesting list, so one would think that whoever was in charge of selling KISS merchandise would take extra effort to get the spelling right. Maybe the merch team wanted to rock and roll all night and truly forgot to see if the top needed a double “t” to complete the spelling of the Ohio metropolis. All this time, we had thought Cleveland existed as the Buckeye State city that could receive no love.
KISS will perform in Iowa tonight and will be hitting arenas in the U.S. through September 20 before a break that will take them overseas come November. That leaves plenty of time for them to hold a we-goofed show in Cincinnati if they so choose or, as we suggested, to plan a 2020 show there. After all, for the KISS Army, there is “never enough” material for them to enjoy.
