Editor’s Picks: The Ecology

June’s Promo Marketing STYLE features a product spotlight on green apparel, which lead to one of the greatest dilemmas of my career as an editor: trying to come up with headline not based on “Bein’ Green.” Between the popularity and appropriateness of the song, and Mr. The Frog’s latest venture, it seemed like avoiding the obvious hack headline was an impossibility.

Then, as it so often does, my iPod saved the day. It reminded me of another poignant song about the environment, delivered by one of the only people in the galaxy cooler than Kermit. Almost.

Keep your apparel promotions clean and green with these eco-friendly picks, and check out the June issue of Promo Marketing for the full spotlight.

Trendy Hat Not Required
Whether your end-users are trend-setters or trend-forgetters, you can’t go wrong with Heritage Sportswear Inc.’s Colorado Clothing Women’s Soybu Slub Jersey V-Neck Tee. The shirt’s fashionable slub fabrication and neckline are trendy enough for the hip crowd, yet basic enough for the no-frills jeans-and-tee types. A blend of cotton, bamboo, spandex and soy, the shirt also offers a mix of performance and eco-friendly features.

Eco-Tech
End-users will perform their best in the Vansport Recycled Drop-Needle Tech Polo from Vantage Apparel. The moisture-management shirt has a drop-needle textured knit body and recycled P.E.T. fibers, and is made from five recycled 12 oz. plastic bottles. It is available in sizes S through 3XL and in colors navy, black, lime, white or sport red.

Keep a Clear Head
Otto International Inc.’s Organic Superior Cotton Twill Sandwich Visor Low Profile Pro Style Caps are made from 100 percent organic cotton, keeping both consciences and scalps free from chemical-induced worries. The six-panel caps are low-fitting and include an adjustable hook-and-loop closure. Five color pairs are available for body/eyelet and brim edge color combinations.
