Richard “Dick” F. Hansen, vice president of account services for Staples Promotional Products, Overland Park, Kan., passed away unexpectedly February 28, 2011, at his home in Kansas.
Hansen had been employed by the company for 36 years and was named vice president in 1990. After five years with H.D. Lee, he joined Swingster in 1975 as production scheduling manager and was an integral leader through the merger of K-Products in 1998, which led to the creation of American Identity and acquisition by Staples in 2007.
“Dick took the time to provide advice, counsel, mentoring and development to those around him,” said Richard Witaszak, vice president and general manager for Staples Promotional Products. “He always cared deeply about taking care of the customer and the customers loved him. He will truly be missed.”
The Vietnam veteran and avid traveler is survived by his wife, Jill, son Michael, daughter Kristin Wood and grandchildren Miles and Olivia Wood.
Donations may be made in Hansen’s honor to the American Lung Association.
