YETI is recalling 1.9 million coolers and cases after reports that magnets can detach, creating the risk of injury or death if ingested.
The CPSC report details that the magnets could attract to each other if ingested, and get lodged in the digestive system, resulting in perforations, twisting and blockage of the intestines, infections, or blood poisoning.

YETI’s recall includes the Hopper M30 Soft Cooler 1.0 and 2.0, Hopper M20 Soft Backpack Cooler, and SideKick Dry Gear Case.
Though there haven’t been any repots of injuries or ingestions, YETI received 1,399 reports of the magnet-lined lids degrading or failing, including reports of missing or detached magnets.
Just last month, Bindle Bottle also announced a recall of its water bottle products after it was discovered that users could be exposed to lead.
YETI is a company with a lot of influence, as evidenced by the fact that it has launched numerous lawsuits against companies that they feel infringe on their trademarks.
So, there’s a chance that there are some similar products out there with similar construction.
