Norwood and BIC Graphic, Clearwater, Fla., participated in the Community College to Career Tour to meet students, tour innovative classrooms and learn about the Labor Department’s Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training Grant Program during a stop at Broward College in Davie, Fla. Nov. 18.
Richard Abbey, the companies’ director of human resources, represented Norwood and BIC. Dr. Jill Biden and Labor Secretary Tom Perez also attended and highlighted the importance of partnerships between educators and business during a roundtable discussion. Broward, along with other Florida higher-education facilities, train workers in inventory management and logistics for shipping and other industries in order to help those who are unemployed to meet employers’ skill requirements.
