As the Atlanta Falcons NFL team and the new Atlanta United MLS team get ready to start playing in the soon-to-be-opened Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the two organizations made a deal with popular sports retailer Fanatics to handle in-house merchandise sales.
The new stadium will include a two-story, 9,000 square foot team store in the stadium’s fan plaza, and will be open most days of the year, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
As part of the deal, Fanatics already controls the Falcons’ online store and Atlanta United’s online sales through a larger deal with the MLS.
Mike Gomes, senior vice president of fan experience for AMB Sports and Entertainment, the two teams’ parent company, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that this deal will allow for a larger variety of merchandise, more customized and limited edition products and faster shipping times on online purchases.
“When we looked at Fanatics, they come with so much expertise in this space that we thought establishing a partnership would assure us a much better online experience for our fans, but also in-venue as well,” Gomes told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Fanatics also runs the NBA Store in New York.
