Westbury, New York-based promotional products distributor Motivators Inc. announced its collection of food will be donated to Island Harvest, Long Island’s largest hunger relief organization.
For several weeks the Motivators staff set up donation bins around the office which could be used as the central location for collecting food. With a food station designated for each department of the company, the teams competed to see who would be able to raise the most rations to be contributed to the food bank. Various nonperishable items were brought in, including everything from granola bars to canned vegetables. With the grand prize of a catered lunch at stake for the winning department, Motivators employees took every stride to make sure that their assigned boxes were filled to the brim. Once the items were counted, it was announced that the IT department was victorious.
Each employee at Motivators took a special pride in knowing that their donations were contributing to a greater good. Motivators CEO Ken Laffer was especially pleased with the turnout of the food drive this year, and expressed his sentiment: “I am delighted that the Motivators staff was able to generate yet another successful year in raising food for the less fortunate.”
“It takes a lot of effort and determination to sustain this tradition, and we are just happy that we were able to make people’s lives easier,” he said. The annual food drive is not the only philanthropic event that Motivators participates in. The promotional products distributor is huge supporter of the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and donates 10 percent of its proceeds on breast cancer items to the charity every year. Motivators also hosts a toy drive at the Child Life Unit at Winthrop Hospital in Mineola, N.Y. at the end of each year.
