50th National Small Business Week Begins Today

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) holds its 50th annual National Small Business Week this week, from June 17 to 21. First started by President Kennedy in 1963, National Small Business Week recognizes leaders in the small business community and highlights what the SBA and stage agencies are doing for local entrepreneurs and startups.

For the 50th anniversary of National Small Business Week, the SBA is holding events around the country. The events will feature lectures, workshops, mentoring and more to help local companies build their businesses. Events are being held in the follow cities:

June 17 – Seattle, Wa.
June 18 – Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas
June 19 – St. Louis, Mo.
June 20 – Pittsburgh, Pa.
June 21 – Washington, D.C.

In addition to the daily events, the SBA will be hold a meeting in Washington, D.C. on June 21 to announce the 2013 National Small Business Person of the year. Presidents and CEOs who have been recognized as small business leaders in their states will head to the nation’s capital to learn who will be recognized as one of the most influential in the country.
