Earlier this week, we found ourselves buddying up to those who had purchased the Drink Cup Shoes from In-N-Out Burger. The sold-out footwear had left us salivating just as much as the chain’s menu items, leading us to consider the next batch’s release in May as sounding so intolerably far away. Now, we have another pair of rare items to pine over—namely, a branded coin and T-shirt that we just learned In-N-Out gives to the first customer at new store locations.

It was certainly news to us to have learned that In-N-Out Burger has made a tradition out of hooking up each spot’s inaugural patron with the commemorative items, but here, indeed, is a breakdown of that practice within the company’s history. Already fond of the caloric options thanks to Las Vegas trips for the PPAI Expo and enamored with the other promotional products that In-N-Out Burger issues, we can now barely hold a thought that does not center on acquiring that coin and the shirt.
California, through a new In-N-Out in the city of Eureka, will soon become the envy of the burger world, as the Times Standard noted the chain will begin hiring for the location early next month. Hopefully, In-N-Out’s next location will be a little further east, considering Arizona, California, Nevada, Oregon and Utah contain most of the chain’s sites.

In-N-Out, which the Times Standard explained is “always looking for future site opportunities,” (ahem, Philadelphia, folks!), has refused to franchise its operations, making each opening a rather big deal, both from a food-based standpoint and, as we came to learn today to a greater extent, a promotional products one, too. As in-N-Out Burger builds its brand one selective site choice at a time, here’s hoping the coins and T-shirts start to earn a little more attention, perhaps on par with the socks that our team yearned to slip on as part of our attendance at the latest PPAI Expo.
