If you like piña coladas, and getting straight A’s; if you’re sporting a toga, and midterms are a craze, then these shirts are for you. (Yes, I did just make that up on the spot.) Anyway, it looks like Tommy Bahama is betting on college student customers for its new collegiate apparel collection.

According to a press release, the Tommy Bahama Collegiate Series features a lineup of new products in a range of college colors with embroidered school logos.

“We’re very excited about the new Tommy Bahama Collegiate Series and the opportunity to expand our existing sport product offering that includes MLB and NFL,” said Doug Wood, CEO of Tommy Bahama. “The collegiate series offers our guests a well-rounded selection of upscale fan apparel that showcases their favorite college.”

The styles are available in two sizes: standard and trim fit, which is slimmer in the body and sleeves. The trim fit styles are the Clubhouse MVP, a DryTech polo; the Camp Safari Polo, a palm print polo; and the Tiki Time Camp shirt, a Hawaiian print shirt in school colors. The standard fit styles include a reversible half zip pullover, and a variety of shirts.

The collection’s prices range from $110 to $165.

Forty schools are on the lucky list of included colors, including Arizona State University, Gonzaga University, Penn State University, UCLA and The University of Notre Dame. But, Tommy Bahama promises more schools will be added.

It’s hard to picture Hawaiian shirts selling at my college bookstore (The Hawk Will Never Die), but I guess the company could be onto something. If Tommy Bahama’s NFL and MLB shirts sold well, then there’s no reason why these big-time colleges wouldn’t want their own versions, too. Either way, college apparel seems to be a worthy investment for any brand, since the market is always growing.
