‘This Is Trash’: Ariana Grande Apologizes for Her Own Tour Merchandise

For music fans, concert merchandise is one of the most important indicators of fandom. It’s a cultural signifier for other fans to see a common interest and display one’s personal tastes. It’s a permanent souvenir of a fun event. And it helps support the artists wearers care about (as long as you get the real stuff). That last point is important, because it’s typically the parking lot knock-offs that are sub-par in quality, and usually why they’re a cheaper (albeit illegal) option.

That’s usually the case, at least. But Ariana Grande fans were upset when the singer’s “Sweetener” T-shirts arrived looking a little off.

She looks a little purplish, and the image transfer is a little sloppy. To her credit (and to fans’ surprise) Grande herself agreed, and said she’s looking into it.

“Yea this looks wild and I can’t believe they sent it out,” Grande tweeted. “I’m on it. So [expletive] sorry. The other merch looks perfect in person. I don’t wear T-shirts so I didn’t have them send me this one first I’m so so sorry. I’ll approve everything in person from now on. This is trash. My bad.”

The shirt is currently available on Grande’s webstore for $35, which is steep for a T-shirt to arrive looking low quality. The kicker is that they take three to four weeks to ship out, which is a long time to wait, too, only to have a discolored Ariana Grande staring at you upside down via heat transfer.

However, the T-shirt purchase does come with access to ticket presale for her 2019 headlining tour, so that’s a pretty cool idea.

The rest of the merchandise in the line reportedly looks fine. But here’s hoping Grande takes the time to check her future merchandise in person, even though she allegedly doesn’t wear T-shirts, which is suspect, if you ask us. Who doesn’t wear T-shirts?
