We at Promo Marketing know the value of a T-shirt. For nonprofits and raising awareness, especially, we’ve seen them make a world of difference. Just this week, Wessex FM is spotlighting embroidered T-shirts that are raising awareness for a good cause.
Local artist and student Emma Williams decided to launch an art exhibition featuring embroidered T-shirts that highlight organ donation. The exhibition is at Dorset County Hospital, and it is generating a ton of positive press.
To put the exhibition together, Williams interviewed several organ donors, donor families and transplant recipients. From those interviews, Williams handpicked several phrases that resonated with her, and she printed those phrases onto the T-shirts where the scar of that specific transplant operation would be. Then, she embroidered the organs onto the T-shirts around the scars.
“There are so many inspirational stories to tell around organ donation, and I hope to continue creating work around this theme to get more people talking and signing up as donors,” said Williams. “I would like more people to have the conversation about organ donation with their friends and family and whether they wish to donate so that their wishes are known.”
“We are very excited to host this exhibition,” said Andrew Ball, clinical lead for organ donation at DCH. “We are especially pleased to see that the message seems to be spreading throughout the community of the importance of not only registering your intentions, but also talking about your decisions with your family.”
The T-shirts are currently not for sale, but we think after the exhibition ends, these would make great embroidered (obviously) or even screen-printed tees.
