Astor Chocolate Achieves ‘Excellent’ Rating from Safe Quality Food Institute

Astor Chocolate, Lakewood, N.J., announced that it has achieved Safe Quality Food (SQF) Edition 7.2 Level 2 Certification with an “Excellent” rating and a top score of 98. The SQF program is highly recognized throughout the world by retailers and food service providers, along with the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), as the most stringent and credible food safety management system in the marketplace.

Administered by the SQF Institute, a division of the Food Marketing Institute, the SQF program certifies companies upon completion of a rigorous audit process whereby the manufacturer has demonstrated a robust food safety system has been established and implemented with the highest recognized standards under the Global Food Safety Initiative. Manufacturers are audited annually by an SQF expert to ensure these strict guidelines are maintained and continually improved upon to meet the requirements of the SQF code.

“Astor Chocolate has always been known for our exceptional quality, but it is quite an honor to be recognized for it by a prestigious organization like the SQF Institute,” said David Grunhut, president of Astor Chocolate. “I can’t say enough about my team and their exemplary performance, not only on achieving this high-level food safety certification, but in the work they do every day. I am proud to lead this amazing team. “
