Burlington, Vermont-based Aurum Organic Klothing LLC, a manufacturer of fashion T-shirts and casual clothing made of organic cotton, announces that the company has been approved as the nation’s first fully certified processor and supplier of apparel certified organic to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) by the Institute of Marketecology (IMO). In order to accomplish this goal, Aurum Organic proved the organic quality of all raw materials and that the chemical inputs and processes involved in the production of goods from cottonseed to finished printed garments with no risk to the environment. Aurum has also met the OE 100 and OE Blended standards set forth by the Organic Exchange for fiber traceability.
Aurum Organics’ products are manufactured using USDA Certified Organic Cotton in India at a GOTS certified facility that utilizes wind, water, and wood power for all aspects of its operation. Once the goods arrive in this country, Aurum offers decoration in its GOTS certified screen printing facility in Massachusetts using water-based inks which have also been certified for use with GOTS by an accredited certifying agency. This is the first GOTS certified decorating facility in the USA.
Aurum Organic offers a carbon neutral program to anyone that would like to eliminate the footprint of their apparel. Using an independent third party Aurum calculates the footprint from the growing of the cotton completely through the manufacturing and to the distribution location in the US. Through the use of carbon offsets with companies like Native Energy, Carbon Trust and Bonneville Environmental Foundation, customers can help build renewable energy projects that help people and causes close to home. These stories are told through custom hang tags made from recycled, seed or stone paper.
The current line of apparel available from Aurum Organic includes men’s short sleeve T-shirts in 10 colors, ladies short sleeve t-shirts in 11 colors, as well as infant rompers and toddler short sleeve T-shirts in four colors. It is anticipated that micro thermal garments and fleece will be added to the in-stock product line in the future.
