In celebration of Bring Comfort To Your Community Day on September 1, Atlanta-based Boxercraft is donating more than 7,000 new garments to the 10 winners of its charity contest. The 10 winners will receive the apparel to donate to their chosen charity as part of Boxercraft’s give-it-forward event.
In June, Boxercraft invited promotional product distributors, screen printers, embroiderers, and cheer and dance retailers to nominate a charity or group that needed its spirits lifted with a donation of Boxercraft spiritwear.
The winners are:
- Pamela Hanes, of MoonDog Embroidery, in Bothell, Wash. Hanes is donating her goods to Operation Help a Hero (OHH). The group supplies new clothes, towels and toiletries to marines who return from deployment. Pamela’s son is a marine, and has been comforted by supplies from OHH.
- Jeri Trimmer, of Sew Bling, in Brentwood, Tenn. Trimmer is donating to the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home. Trimmer chose this orphanage because her daughter lived there for 10 years before she adopted her at the age of 14.
- Kristy Schmitt, of Irvington Printing, in Irvington, N.Y. Schmitt is donating to Quad Village Rotary/Midnight Run. The organization helps children who are homeless or living below the poverty level locally.
- Suzanne Esposito, of Distinctive Designs by Suzanne, in Lehigh Valley, Pa. Esposito is donating her goods to Turning Point of the Lehigh Valley in memory of Trisha Sadler, a fatal victim of domestic violence. The non-profit charitable organization assists community members suffering from domestic abuse.
- Joella Galvan, of Brembrolo Embroidery & Design, in Pensacola, Fla. Galvan is donating her goods to Hope Center for Teens Inc. The organization is a shelter for runaway and homeless youth specializing in offering housing and other resources to pregnant and parenting youth under the age of 21.
- Jon Tupper, of GAMEtec Gear & Graphics, in Joplin, Mo. Tupper is donating his goods to the City of Joplin and the Joplin High School because the high school, several grade schools and tech center were destroyed during the devastating tornado in May.
- Doreen Wallis, of Stitch & Awl, in Aledo, Texas. Wallis is donating her goods to Guardians of the Children, a group dedicated to recognizing and reacting to child abuse. The guardians serve as advocates for families and children in crisis.
- Cindy Hutchison, of Pacific Spirit Wear, in Qualicum Beach, British Columbia. Hutchison is donating her items to the Society of Organized Services (SOS), a charity that provides a variety of programs, support and services for the community including providing clothing and other goods for families in need during Christmas.
- Stephanie Althof, of Xpressions, in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Althof is donating her goods to the Bremwood Residential Treatment Center, a structured rehabilitation facility for troubled youth.
- Cari Spears, of Eagan Shirt Werks & Promotionals Inc., in Mendota Heights, Minn. Spears is donating her goods to Project Home, a charity that provides emergency overnight shelter for homeless children and their parents.
More than 100 individuals wrote in to nominate their favorite community organizations. As a token of Boxercraft’s appreciation, every entrant will receive a free sample.
The contest was designed to provide Boxercraft customers an opportunity to make a large donation to a group they are passionate about. To date, Boxercraft has given more than 16,000 garments to 26 individuals to donate to their chosen groups as part of its Bring Comfort To Your Community program.
