British Olympic Team’s Luggage Causes Airport Blunder

We’ve all been there—it’s late, your flight just landed and you want to get home (fast). But, there’s one hurdle you still must face: baggage claim. As you’re standing there, trying not to fall asleep, you try to identify your black duffel bag from everyone else’s. After an hour, you swear you’ll customize your bag in the future for an easier search. Take comfort in the fact that Olympians are just like you—maybe, even worse.

According to SB Nation, the British Olympic team didn’t think things through when it came to its official Olympic baggage. When the athletes returned home from the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, they realized the error of their ways. At baggage claim, each athlete attempted to differentiate his or her red Olympic luggage from everyone else’s. No easy task, especially at 5 a.m. local time.

Apparently, it took roughly two hours to sort out the problem, but at least we’ve all learned a valuable lesson. When issuing promotional luggage to a huge group of athletes (or co-workers, business professionals, etc.), consider customizing the bags with the recipient’s name or adding on a promotional luggage tag. They’ll thank you when they make it out of baggage claim in less than an hour.
