The Washington Capitals did not win game four of their series with against the Philadelphia Flyers, but apparently no one told sportswear retailer Fanatics that. The e-commerce company sent out email blasts celebrating the Capitals’ “sweep” of the Flyers, and prompted customers to stock up on Caps gear.
According to The Washington Post, Fanatics sent an email before the start of the third period with the subject, “Caps Sweep! One Step Closer to the Cup.” The email included images of a Capitals hat and jersey, with the phrase “12 to Go. Cheer on the Capitals.”
Now, the Capitals faithful is claiming that Fanatics jinxed its team’s chance to sweep the Flyers and move on to the next round of the playoffs.
Just saw this email. Now I know who jinxed tonight. Thanks Fanatics. You better hope you're right #Caps #CapsFlyers pic.twitter.com/sugQyIVr9Q

Editor/Flyers fan’s note: The game we were watching here in Philadelphia showed 2-0 in favor of the Flyers before the start of the third, so we’re not sure how Fanatics could’ve “jinxed” that.
