Gucci Uses ‘Detroit Vs. Everybody’ Design for T-shirt Line Featuring Major Cities

You’ve probably seen one of those “[Insert city name here] vs. Everybody” shirts. They’re a source of local pride, and carry over to a city’s sports and cultural identity.

Gucci certainly noticed their popularity, and borrowed the phrase from original “Detroit vs. Everybody” designer Tommey Walker for its “Gucci vs. Everybody” line.

The T-shirts are pretty much identical to the ones you’ve seen, with New York, D.C., Atlanta, Philadelphia, Chicago, Houston and Detroit featured among the 11 cities Gucci designated as their “Changemaker” cities.

The main difference with Gucci’s collection is the big “Gucci” logo on the back of the T-shirts, which explains the $390 price tag.

However, customers can at least know that their money is going toward something good. Each variation of the shirt will only be for sale in its corresponding city, and proceeds will go toward a charitable donation to benefit local nonprofit partners.

“My partnership with Gucci is a dream come true, not just for me and my team, but also for celebrating the city of Detroit’s cultural richness and innovation,” Walker told The Detroit News. “I’m really proud of the collab, and even more humbled that the project supports change-making philanthropy at the grassroots level, where it is needed the most.”
