Justin Bieber might be the subject of preteen disdain after he canceled the remainder of his tour, but that doesn’t mean that the “Despacito” singer can’t design a winning T-shirt.
According to GQ, the pop star teamed up with famed stylist Karla Welch to design a new line of white T-shirts for Hanes. Apparently, the beginning stages went exactly like this: “Karla, I need a long T-shirt, and I want it to be like this,” the singer said.
Because there were no long T-shirts available on the market, Welch decided to make them herself with Hanes cotton T-shirts because Bieber liked the stiff fabric. She opted to buy the largest size possible, and then tailor it to fit what the Biebs was looking for.
In terms of design specifics, Bieber’s customized tee is roomy and features a hem that hits below the belt. GQ likened it to the oversized T-shirt trend of the ’90s and ’00s hip-hop scene. The difference is that this model touts a slimmer body.
Predicting that the public might want to get their hands on Bieber’s new style, Welch and Hanes have launched a new collection featuring the fit. The shirt retails for $30 on the Hanes x Karla website. The rest of the collection features crop tops, sleeveless tees and even sleeveless crop tops.
While fans can’t get ahold of Bieber’s tour merchandise, perhaps these new Hanes tees will fill the void.
