It looks like Kevin Spacey was creating a merchandise line based off his “House of Cards” character, according to The Blast. However, in the midst of the mountain of sexual misconduct and assault allegations stacking up against the actor, it can pretty much be assumed the merchandise development will be put on hold.
Here’s what we know about it: Spacey filed for rights to acquire a trademark for the phrase “Presidential by Kevin Spacey,” which seems to be a nod to Spacey’s character on the show, President Frank Underwood.
The filings, which were as recent as Oct. 24, describe a merchandise line made up of eyewear, sunglasses, footwear, gourmet-food products, kitchenwear, bakewear, luxury items and clothing.
Netflix has currently suspended “House of Cards” amid the allegations, and the streaming service also announced they are cutting ties with the actor. We’re not sure what will happen to Spacey’s merchandise venture, but we have a feeling it’s not going anywhere.
