KFC Escalates Fast-Food Merch Wars With Streetwear Capsule Collection

We can’t believe we’re saying this, but KFC might just be the master of branded merchandise. In fact, we think the fast food company should change its name to Knows Fantastic Clothing. According to a recent press release, Kentucky Fried Chicken has collaborated with Human Made fashion designer NIGO to create a new fried chicken-inspired streetwear collection for the “fashionable, finger lickin’ hypebeasts of the world.”

The Human Made x KFC Capsule Collection took a lot of research on NIGO’s part. The designer visited KFC’s Louisville, Ky., headquarters, spent time at the Colonel Sanders Museum, and learned how to make the fried chicken.

“When we heard of NIGO’s obsession with Colonel Sanders, we had to invite him for a rare tour of the Colonel’s personal archives to help inspire him,” said Steve Kelly, director of media and digital marketing. “We’re humbled to work alongside both Hypemaker and NIGO in debuting this collection and are proud to have been a small part of his creative process.”

The collection features a Colonel shop jacket, ’70s style racing jacket, hoodies, T-shirts, hats and more. Prices range from $20 to $375.

We would wear everything in this collection. The font choice is top notch, and NIGO definitely got creative with a lot of these pieces. It’s great to see so many fast food chains going all in on their branded merchandise. If anything, it shows how powerful promotional apparel products are, and it’s a great indicator that they continue to influence consumers and increase brand exposure.

The collection will only be made available on Nov. 23 at HBX.com and the Human Made store in Tokyo.
