New Disney Parks Apparel Line Goes All In On Retro Design Trend

The retro design trend is in and it’s here to stay. It’s no longer uncommon to see brands recreate their own ideas for merchandise to fit the retro theme we’ve been seeing everywhere. Disney has been ahead of the trend for awhile, and has now launched another retro apparel line available at both Disney World and Disneyland.

This particular collection looks like it’s straight out of “That ‘70s Show” (think bubble text and sunset colors). If your first thought was more crop tops, bright colors and styles from the ‘80s, this collection isn’t it.

PopSugar noted that the collection includes a Walt Disney World Retro Castle T-shirt, Spirit Jersey, collared print T-shirt, retro tank tops, sweatpants, a hoodie and a cross-body bag, with prices ranging from $20 to $70 (this includes both adult and youth sizes).

There is also a pair of platform Crocs that were spotted at the BouTiki in Disney’s Polynesian Resort for $49.99, according to the Disney Food Blog.

Some of our favorite elements from this line are the design details and how they tie in nicely with the entire retro theme.

The stripes, for example, could have easily just been plain black stripes that go across the jersey T-shirt. But the color scheme—with red, orange, yellow and blue shades that were popular in the ‘70s—really takes the design to the next level. The bubble lettering using the same vintage colors was another clever idea, and is something we don’t see that often anymore.

On some of the apparel pieces, you’ll even notice a faded Disney castle, along with the date 1971 (the year Walt Disney World Resort first opened), which really drives this retro idea further.

Disney is always churning out new merchandise for its theme parks, so we’re excited to see what’s next. Maybe a Saint Patrick’s Day collection? Probably! We’ll keep you posted.
