Pennsylvania Congressman Tim Murphy Named PPAI’s Legislator Of The Year

Promotional Products Association International (PPAI), the Irving, Texas-based not-for-profit association for more than 10,000 member companies of the $16.5 billion promotional products industry, honored Representative Tim Murphy (R-PA) as the 2012 PPAI Legislator Of The Year during its Legislative, Education and Action Day (L.E.A.D.), March 7-8, 2012 in Washington, D.C.

PPAI has named Representative Tim Murphy as the association’s inaugural Legislator Of The Year. The PPAI Legislator Of The Year Award recognizes members of Congress who have shown a commitment to small-business interests and success, a willingness to meet with industry professionals, and have given their support to issues critical to the promotional products industry.

“Small businesses and the small-business owners are the face of the promotional products industry,” said Paul Bellantone, CAE, president and CEO of PPAI. “They encounter unique challenges that require unique solutions and unwavering advocacy. This award recognizes the work Representative Murphy has put forth on behalf of promotional products businesses and the industry’s continued support of his voice for this vibrant community.”

Nominated by George Jackson, owner of George Jackson Promotions Inc. and a resident of his district, and chosen by a panel of eight judges, Congressman Murphy has championed the cause of small business and met face-to-face with industry leaders. He has established a history of being available and listening to the concerns of promotional products businesses, and supporting or opposing legislation that impacts the industry.
