Hosted by Pioneer Balloon, headquartered in Wichita, Kan., the World Balloon Convention 2012 (WBC) returned to Dallas from March 21-25. Building on the success of the WBC 2010, the highly-anticipated educational event attracted more than 600 balloon professionals from nearly 50 countries worldwide. Throughout the week, delegates participated in a variety of classes, competitions, networking meetings, parties and other activities.
The WBC once again culminated by opening its doors to the general public for the Festival of Balloons. The purpose of this family-friendly event was to show people the possibilities of balloons and elevate balloon art to a new level. Incredible balloon pieces from the WBC—including competition entries, classroom designs and party décor—were put on display for the festival. Attendees of all ages also enjoyed balloon entertainers and stage performances, fun photo opportunities, and the chance to purchase their own helium-inflated Qualatex balloons. More than 3,000 people attended the festival, held at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel.
