The Promotional Products Association International (PPAI) today announced that it would halt plans to introduce The PPAI Expo Distributor-Hosted Buyer initiative at the 2012 PPAI Expo.
“PPAI is a member-driven organization, and based on feedback from our member-owners, the board has reversed its decision to introduce a Distributor-Hosted Buyer initiative at The PPAI Expo 2012,” Eric Ekstrand, MAS, PPAI chairman told PPB Newslink.
First announced at the end of April, the Hosted-Buyer Initiative (PDF) would have allowed distributors to bring up to two end-buyers with them on the last day of the Las Vegas trade show. In a poll on Promo Marketing, more than 70 percent of distributors disagreed with the decision to open up the show to clients.
The statement indicated that the PPAI board of directors reversed the decision, initially approved in March, and would review the program as well as seek input from members. There was no indication if or when it would be implemented in the future.
