Prime Line, the top 50 supplier located in Bridgeport, Conn., today announced the acquisition of the Points of Light product line, based in Fairfield, N.J. This acquisition comes on the heels of Prime Line’s acquisitions of factory direct sourcing lines Source Abroad and Get It Global earlier this year.
“Prime is always looking for new products and services to offer its distributors,” said Jeff Lederer, president of Prime Line. “Points of Light was a perfect match and fit the right profile for Prime of innovative patented items at very competitive prices. We started the discussions and opportunity to make a deal in January and just hit it off. Prime likes to do deals with people where it is a win-win situation.”
“What attracted us to Points of Light is that 60 percent of the line is comprised of exclusive and patented products,” Lederer continued. “Many of these items are $2 and under including several items for the health care market. This was another important factor in us wanting to do this deal.”
According to Lederer, “Having more lower points to choose from is just one of many ways distributors will benefit from our new acquisition. But what is more exciting are the very innovative and successful exclusive products. In addition, they will be able to use Prime’s services—free rush, same-day service, price match and Prime Express Shipping—on the entire Points of Light line. They’ll have peace of mind knowing that we’re bringing our industry-leading focus on product safety and regulatory compliance, including our QCA certification, to the Points of Light product line. And, they’ll be pleased to know that we’re going to invest more heavily in inventory and expand the product line with the same creative flair that Points of Light is known for.”
In an interview with Promo Marketing, Lederer explained that the Points of Light line will continue to operate out of New Jersey during the transition and that distributors should continue to place orders with Points of Light. The product line’s operations will eventually move to Prime Line’s Connecticut headquarters, although Lederer said the line will continue to use the Points of Light branding for the time being.
“We want the smoothest transition, so for now, everything will remain the same,” said Lederer. “We respect what the employees and Points of Light family have created and the special attention they’ve given to customers. We want to enhance that.”
Founded in 1989, the Points of Light line has grown with an innovative collection of unique and patented product groups, including the Swanky Pens, the Goofy Group and a full line of health and safety products. Ben Goldstein, former owner and board chairman of Points of Light, said, “I couldn’t imagine better partners than Prime Line and the Lederer family to take Points of Light to the next level.”
