Prime Line Expands Use of Augmented Reality in 2014 Catalog

Prime Line, the supplier based in Bridgeport, Conn., has expanded the use of augmented reality in its 2014 catalog, enabling 21 pages with video or 3-D animation viewable by smartphone or tablet using the free Actable app. In addition, the company has integrated image recognition technology, also accessible via the Actable app, into the digital version of the catalog.

“We believe that providing easy and immediate access to product videos and 3-D animations in our catalog helps distributors better understand how to sell our products and end-buyers how to use them,” said Jeff Lederer, president of Prime Line. “Our videos demonstrate key product attributes and identify potential markets and applications. The added value generated by augmented reality gives readers who choose to interact with our catalog a better overall experience.”

In a departure from previous years, Prime Line published a single version of its 2014 catalog that includes both U.S. and Canadian pricing. The catalog is 272 pages and features 143 new items including 47 tech accessories, which is the company’s fastest growing category. These include mobile device chargers, wireless Bluetooth speakers and headphones, tablet sleeves and cable management devices by Gumbite, the exclusive brand Prime debuted in 2013.

The company also introduced three exclusive series: BURST series items displaying the dialog bubble graphic popular on social media; a medical-themed series with doctor and nurse character graphics; and Logo-Blox items, which can be connected to create sets in mix or match colors. All items from these series, except sets and combos, are available with free 24-hour rush service.
