R.S. Owens, Chicago, announced the completion of the 2015 London International Advertising (LIA) awards. The winged silhouette of the LIA award has appeared prominently in films and TV shows, including the late Robin Williams’ television show, “The Crazy Ones.”
The LIA award honors excellence in advertising, digital, production, design, music and sound, and technology worldwide, and is one of the most coveted awards in the advertising industry.
The 2015 awards have been inspected and shipped to their final destination to await the winning announcements on Nov. 10, 2015.
In 1985, the LIA commissioned British art student Mary Griffiths to design its first winged award. Griffiths’ symbolic design has been used ever since, creating a legacy of excellence within the advertising industry. The 13″ hand-cast metal figure is mounted to a black nickel-plated metal base designed with a unique flat area to hold the winner’s plate.
The statuette itself is electroplated in 24-karat antique gold, antique silver and antique bronze. R.S. Owens created a special carbon black-gloss finish for Grand LIA winners.
