Hip-hop artist Chance the Rapper just released his new mixtape, “Coloring Book,” and to commemorate the release, he put new merchandise items on his Web store. What’s interesting, however, is that all of the items are fully customizable.

Chance gives fans the options of T-shirts, caps and hoodies. The T-shirts have 11 possible designs for the front and five for the back, and come in 14 possible colors with eight possible design colors. The caps come in nine colors with eight ink color options. And the sweatshirt comes in six colors with eight ink color options, and features the same design possibilities as the T-shirts.

His merchandise is reminiscent of online stores, like Cafepress, where shoppers can choose the color of the T-shirt or item, but this is rare in the world of music merchandise. It makes sense that Chance wants to monetize what he can following the mixtape’s release—after all, he did release it for free.

Do you think more artists or brands should do things like this? Have you seen similar promotions or programs? Let us know in the comment section!
