Rock Band Jet Finds Unopened Box of Branded Underwear From 2004, Has Giveaway

We remember taking a liking to Jet back in 2004, thinking that the Aussie rockers would soar to greatness thanks to tunes like “Look What You’ve Done,” which reminded us of “Sexy Sadie” by The Beatles. That aspiration remained grounded, for the most part, but perhaps their recent reincarnation might bring added fame. Speaking of second go-arounds, Jet branded underwear that went undistributed that year is earning another shot at glory through a giveaway that is sure to beat the pants off other apparel promotions.

The musicians took to Instagram to explain their discovery of the merch, noting that four winners and an equal number of tagged friends will be able to slip on the branded underwear shortly after the giveaway’s June 2 conclusion. We like that fans of the group took us for a stroll down memory lane by quoting lyrics from Jet’s songs in tagging their pals, and we wonder what sort of scrutiny the rockers will subject the replies to in choosing the victors. As for the goods, the social media post leads us to believe that there are five available colors, with the products including the group’s logo and a guitar.

As we have noted a few times, socks have been gaining distinction as promo favorites, and while we would not go so far as to suggest that branded underwear could top their influence, it is nice to see that Jet is finding a creative use for something that could have just ended up trashed. By looking to connect with fans, both the longtimers and those who might have just boarded its figurative plane of followers, Jet is rewarding its base with something that shows, well, an intimate connection to their output.

As of this afternoon, the band’s Instagram post had drawn plenty of attention, so with six days to go until the giveaway period for the branded underwear ends, we wonder how many people will “Stand Up” to show their interest.
