Sailor Jerry Is Giving Away Custom Sweaters That Show Off Tattoos

Christmas sweaters are a lot of fun, but if you spent all that money on tattoos, do you really want to hide them? Sailor Jerry’s, a brand that recognizes and appreciates the physical art form of the illustrated man or woman, just released a new sweater with strategically placed cutouts so you can still show off your ink while you rock your holiday best.

From now until Dec. 10, people can post images of their tattoos on social media with the hashtag #SJHolidaySweater for a chance to win one of 20 custom-made sweaters, which the brand guarantees will arrive by Dec. 24 (no small feat these days). Just in time to show that new tattoo to Grandma over dinner.

“Norman ‘Sailor Jerry’ Collins didn’t believe in playing by the rules, and as his namesake, Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum believes much the same,” Mary-Jade Hynes, brand manager for Sailor Jerry, said in a statement to Adweek. “Our hope is to provide fans the opportunity to play by their own rules this holiday season and show off their individual tattoos with pride. After all, Norman Collins’ work spoke for itself—yours should have the opportunity to, too.”

This is a fun take on the traditional holiday sweater, which plenty of companies have adopted as a classic year-end gift. The extremely limited release creates hype, which leads to people sending in images for a chance to win and generating social media engagement.
