Salt Lake City 5.7 Magnitude Earthquake Disrupts Utah Promo Businesses

Early Wednesday, a 5.7 magnitude earthquake shook Salt Lake City and surrounding areas, knocking out power and forcing the city’s airport to close. While there were no reports of injuries as of 12:30 p.m. eastern, the earthquake caused disruptions for promo businesses in the area.

HandStands Promo, based in Salt Lake City, announced it would be closed for the remainder of the day to assess damages, but expects to reopen tomorrow. SnugZ USA, based in West Jordan, Utah, a suburb of Salt Lake City, posted on its social media channels updating customers on its status.

NBC News reported that Utah’s Department of Emergency Management expects aftershocks and advised residents to shelter in place. Via NBC News:

Rocky Mountain Power said about 55,000 customers lost power, and that it was working to “restore power as soon as possible.”

Gov. Gary Herbert asked residents to stay away from downtown Salt Lake City to allow crews to assess the area. “Unless you work in public safety, or are an essential employee, remain at home or telework,” he said.

According to PPAI, the Salt Lake City area is home to 239 promo businesses. Among the sompanies based in the city are Proforma Peak Printing & Promotions, Hands On Promotions, Brand+Aid, Slcmerch.com and Boost Marketing/RADSWAG.
