Storm Creek Donates More Than $50,000 to Charity in 2019

Storm Creek, Hastings, Minn., announced that it contributed a record $50,002 to charity in 2019. The giving total includes more than $40,000 donated to participating charity partners during the company’s annual warehouse sales in October and November, as well as $10,000 for 1% for the Planet.

Storm Creek also gives countless product/in-kind donations to local and national emergency assistance programs throughout the year.

Funds raised during the annual warehouse sales go to more than 25 charities through Storm Creek’s Shop for a Cause program, which was launched to allow shoppers to give back to those in need.

“Shop for a Cause has become the foundation of our warehouse sale, making it a truly unique experience,” said Teresa Fudenberg, CEO of Storm Creek. “It’s the reason people keep coming back year after year. The program allows customers to shop, save and give by using a coupon for the charity of their choosing. They get $10 off their order of $50 or more, and we give 10 percent to the selected charity. This year’s goal was $35,000, and it’s amazing to see how our community rallied to surpass that.”

Participating charity partners included the American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Animal Ark, Cultivate International, Eagan Lion’s Club, Feed My Starving Children, FMSC Cannon FAlls Mobile Pack, Finnigan’s Community Fund, Firefly Sisterhood, Gobble Gait (Hastings Family Services), Hastings Hockey Association, Hastings Show Choir, Hastings Volleyball Boosters, Inver Grove Heights Band Boosters, Pine Harbor Christian Academy, Ronald McDonald House, Secondhand Hounds, Servant Road, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, St. Philip’s Early Learning Center, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. John the Baptist School, Tee It Up for the Troops, The Open Door Pantry, TLC of Hastings, Twin Cities in Motion, and the United Way of Hastings.

Storm Creek’s commitment to giving back goes well beyond the local community. Through its sustainability program, the company is also supporting causes that do important work to create positive environmental change. One percent of sales proceeds from its new Eco Collection goes to 1% For the Planet.

“Products in our Eco Collection are made from at least 35 percent recycled materials like plastic bottles,” Fudenberg said. “Since the initial introduction of the Eco Collection in mid-2018, we have saved more than 1 million plastic bottles from ending up in landfills and oceans. Our new partnership with 1% For the Planet allows us to make an even more significant impact improving our environment in 2020 and beyond.”
