The Awesome Story Behind Pepsi’s New Hand-Drawn Logo Branded Merch

Many of us know actor John Krasinski for his role as Jim Halpert in “The Office,” or even as the lead actor and director of “A Quiet Place.” While fans were bummed about the release of “A Quiet Place Part 2” being postponed, we still get to see Krasinski through his new YouTube series, “Some Good News (SGN).” And, if you’ve been keeping up with the series, the Pepsi logo featured in one of his recent videos might look very familiar to the one on Pepsi’s official new branded merch.

If you haven’t been keeping up with the new series, here’s some background information on what we’re talking about:

“SGN” is a new web series hosted by John Krasinski that, well, shares good news from around the world. In episode five, “SGN Potluck: Some Good News with John Krasinski,” Krasinski features a number of guests, like Guy Fieri, Martha Stewart, David Chang and Stanley Tucci, to recreate a few fun family recipes submitted by fans.

Toward the end of the episode, Krasinski took a minute to share how Fieri has joined in and helped lead the Restaurant Relief America fundraising campaign, which supports U.S. restaurant workers that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. But, it didn’t stop there. Krasinski surprised Fieri with the news that Pepsi had donated an additional $3 million. He then shared the picture of the Pepsi logo, drawn by his two daughters, Hazel and Violet.

After the episode aired, Pepsi decided to create branded merch with that exact logo on it. This limited edition gear includes two T-shirts—one V-neck and a classic unisex tee—and a jumbo canvas tote bag. All items can be purchased through the online website Sevenly, and 100 percent of the proceeds goes to the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund (RERF) and helping those in need.

Pretty cool! And shows that great design doesn’t necessarily have to mean professional design.
