Weirdly, I’ve been playing a ton of NBA Jam lately, so I have a heightened sense of jubilation any time the subject matter comes up. So, when I saw that there are going to be some amazing NBA Jam-inspired tees at the NBA All Star Game weekend in Charlotte, N.C., I nearly fell off my chair.

According to SBNation, the Columbus, Ohio-based company behind the incredible tees is called Homage Clothing, and they’ve been selling the shirts for a year now. Thankfully, you don’t have to book a flight to Charlotte to get your hands on the apparel, as they are available online.
These tees are great for several reasons. The first is that it’s an obvious nostalgia play, but with a modern twist. NBA Jam was a popular game from the ’90s, and even though it’s gone through several rounds of remakes, it’s still a quintessential retro video game. Additionally, there’s a level of humor involved in some of the designs. Steph Curry has a “one” dunk rating, and Ben Simmons has a “zero” rating in shooting threes (an accurate summation given his three-point attempt this week).
What’s also great about these shirts is that they change up the usual sporting event apparel formula. Typically, you have your jerseys, shirseys, baseball caps and standard team T-shirts. We can appreciate a T-shirt promotion that takes a different approach to team loyalty, and that’s why this collection is a true winner.
Or in other words, BOOMSHAKALAKA!
