The Timberwolves Prince-Inspired Jerseys Are a Slam Dunk

Now these leaked Minnesota Timberwolves jerseys could be completely fake, but verifiable news sites are jumping on the bandwagon, so we think it’s fair game. Between redditors and certain masters of Twitter, it seems there’s a good possibility that we have an image of the Timberwolves’ Prince-inspired jerseys. And we think they contain just the right amount of Purple Rain.

Last year, Nike announced it would release four jerseys for each NBA team in the following categories: Association, Icon, Statement and City. There were also plans to roll out new City uniforms each year. In a leaked photo from the @TWolveFRA Twitter page, we got a first look at the Timberwolves’ new City Edition jerseys:

As an homage to one of Minnesota’s most beloved natives, Prince, these jerseys go all out on the funky font and the purple and black color scheme. If they are real, we are big fans, and we love when professional sports teams think outside the box with their special edition uniforms. It wouldn’t be the first time a Minnesota sports team has given us Prince-inspired merchandise.

If the team decides to sell these jerseys to fans, we can say with certainty they would fly off the shelves. Just look at that font on the “32”โ€”that is straight up inspired. We’re excited to see what the other NBA teams decide to do for their City Edition uniforms. Hey Sixers, may we suggest a Kevin Bacon-inspired jersey?
