Sharon, Massachusetts-based Charles River Apparel is kicking off its third annual “‘Tis the Season for Giving” campaign. The company is inviting savvy social media users to become fans of Charles River Apparel on Facebook. For every new ‘like’ it receives, they will donate a garment to the homeless. The campaign runs until December 31.
“As part of our Charles River Cares program, we are committed to helping nonprofit groups around the country that help individuals and families who are facing difficult circumstances.” said Deb Lipsett, manager of strategic partnerships for Charles River Apparel. “This year we are fortunate to partner with The Bowery Mission, an organization that has served homeless and hungry New Yorkers since 1879.”
This year, The Bowery Mission provided more than 382,400 meals, 93,700 nights of shelter, and 46,800 articles of clothing. They also supplied showers and haircuts, plus expert medical and optometric care. Each meal and each night of shelter is also an invitation to its residential recovery programs. “For people served by The Bowery Mission, warm clothing in the winter can make the difference between hopelessness and hope. New clothes can be the first step toward a transformed life,” said Ed Morgan, president of The Bowery Mission. “We are grateful to Charles River Apparel for caring about New Yorkers in need.” For more information, please visit www.bowery.org.
Lipsett is aiming high for this year’s drive. “We want to reach at least 3,000 new “likes” to our company Facebook fan page, which will more than double our donations from 2012. That would equal 3,000 jackets, fleece, or hoodies keeping someone warm this winter.” Charles River Apparel employees are also part of the drive, donating their time to sort garments and get them ready for shipment. “We have a wonderful and dedicated team at our Sharon, Massachusetts headquarters, who go above and beyond during our busiest season.”
Charles River Apparel is proud to be a recognized leader for its philanthropic efforts. For the past 30 years, the family-owned business has donated thousands of garments nationwide and abroad. For more information or to find a retailer near you, please visit www.charlesriverapparel.com.
