We’ve got to say, we love apparel news like this. It’s so great to see apparel companies take the initiative to make more apparel options available to shoppers with disabilities, and we hope this trend continues. A few months ago, we covered the details of Target’s new line for children with disabilities, and now Ralph Lauren is launching one for adults.
According to CNN Money, Ralph Lauren’s new collection features 37 styles for men and 34 styles for women, including shirts, sweaters, pants and dresses. The apparel line uses magnets and Velcro to make it easier for people to get dressed.
The button-down shirts use magnets for the buttons and cuffs, so that people with disabilities can either lift the shirts over their heads, or unbutton them with one hand. The pants feature magnetic flies and zippers, as well as pull-on loops inside of the waistbands.
“Inclusivity and the democratization of fashion have always been at the core of my brand’s DNA,” Tommy Hilfiger, the founder, said in a statement. “These collections continue to build on that vision, empowering differently abled adults to express themselves through fashion.”
For suppliers and distributors of promotional apparel, it might be time to consider adding some of these options into your apparel lineups.
