Supplier Victorinox Swiss Army, manufacturer of the iconic Swiss Army Knife brand, displayed two new products at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this week. The Victorinox SSD (solid state drive) and Victorinox Slim 3.0 were both announced on Monday, Jan. 9.
The Victorinox SSD is available in 64GB, 128GB, 256GB and 1TB capacities, and utilizes solid state drives, which are faster and more durable than magnetic or flash memory devices. The USB drive includes an L.E.D. which can display current capacity, and are able to connect to USB2/3 drives, although it only offers USB 2.0 speeds, and eSATA2/3 connectors. It is available in a traditional body with a knife, scissors and nail file/screwdriver combo, or a flight-safe version. Both bodies are available in black, Victorinox red, forest green and navy blue. Consumer electronics website Engadget is reporting that the 1TB capacity drive could cost just under $3,000.
The Victorinox Slim 3.0 is an update of the Slim 2.0 that features faster transfer speeds for computers utilizing USB 3.0 connections. It is available in the same four colors as the Victorinox SSD and with the regular or flight-safe bodies, and comes in 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage capacities.
