Pizza frequently spells doom for T-shirts, as one overzealous bite or a misguided perception of a slice’s warmth can send sauce cascading down an end-user’s top. Thanks to DKNY, though, pizza boxes will prove an advocate for apparel, as the fashion house will be delivering customized tees and totes in branded boxes through Dec. 21 as a nod to its eponymous 100% DKNY campaign.

Anyone who follows the fashion world closely knows that some decisions, on initial analysis, seem puzzling, so whoever is out there wondering what pizza boxes have to do with T-shirts and tote bags, we are right there with you! However, companies like DKNY excel by shunning typical perceptions of normalcy, and the branded packages will certainly join the fold as unique delivery methods. More importantly, though, their contents, owing to the on-demand/custom printing component, should end up showing that DKNY possesses great respect for consumers’ calls for unique attire.
In this case, end-users, following the early fall example of celebrities and various influencers who wore the specialized T-shirts, will be able to create tops that feature five self-chosen characteristics, with each assigned a percentage. Once tee-crazy and/or totes-obsessed website visitors have input their choices, they can expect DKNY to send along the product in the pizza boxes within three days. And while they will not contain what easily stands as our favorite food here at Promo Marketing, they certainly stand to become collector’s items.
Given that the holiday season’s penchant for inspiring consumerism is in overdrive, we know that companies are seeking solid end-of-the-year profits. But DKNY is playing the altruist through next Friday, with the digital pop-up’s proceeds destined to go to the Ronald McDonald House New York.
You asked, we delivered: introducing the #IAMDKNY digital pop-up.

While the T-shirts and totes will certainly make great personal selections for end-users, not to mention how cool the pizza boxes could be to own, this is the season of giving. Because of that, we are pretty keen on the idea of having consumers gift these items to those on their shopping lists. We’re a playful bunch here at Promo Marketing, so we are toying with the idea of customizing a shirt for accounts extraordinaire Rob Margulies. If we were to go through with the idea, our selections would be 35% Rolling Stones enthusiast, 25% egg salad lover, 20% office heat adjuster, 15% mensch and 5% Gritty devotee.
If you were to purchase your own, what would your selections be? We are very curious to know! Maybe you could tell us over a few slices of pizza.
