Take Charge Indy, the pedigree racehorse owned by Chuck and Maria Sanford (owners of industry supplier Bag Makers), placed 19th in this year’s Kentucky Derby, ending the race with a chip in its left-front ankle. The horse’s health is reported to be otherwise good, and after surgery this week and 60 days of rest, the horse will be able to resume training. Take Charge Indy will reportedly be out of racing for the summer, but will be back in racing shape shortly after that.
